WSOP Roundup: Chinese Player Reaches Final Five in Event #50, Tony Lin Finishes Eighth

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is heating up as players from around the world compete for millions of dollars in prize money and the coveted WSOP gold bracelets. In this roundup, we’ll take a look at some of the recent events and see how the players are faring.

Event #48: $1,000 Seniors Championship

In the $1,000 Seniors Championship, 1,624 players returned for Day 2, with only 1,227 players qualifying for the minimum payout of $1,607. After ten levels of play, around 217 players remained, each guaranteed a minimum payout of $5,138.

Leonard Clementi seemed to be leading the pack with 4,200,000 in chips. Other big stacks included Chun Li (3,165,000), David Palm (2,335,000), Bryant Morrison (2,055,000), and James Clarke (2,250,000).

Event #50: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship

Day 3 of the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship has ended, with the final five players returning tomorrow to compete for the top prize of $1,309,232 and a WSOP gold bracelet.

Sitting at the top of the leaderboard is Stanislav Halatenko, who holds a massive chip lead with 19,750,000 chips (about 45% of the total chips in play). Travis Pearson is in second place with 8,550,000 chips, and Chinese player Peng Shan is in third place with 6,800,000 chips. Ren Lin finished in eighth place, taking home $124,243, while Hong Kong’s Ka Kwan Lau finished in eleventh place, earning $75,352, and Tong Li finished in 94th place, taking home $16,088.

Event #51: $1,000 Tag Team

The second round of the tag team event has officially ended, with only 26 teams left competing for the top prize of $95,331 and the coveted gold bracelet. Day 1 saw 1,282 registered teams, creating a prize pool of $570,490. Only 252 teams returned for Day 2, and the bubble burst with 193 teams in the money.

The minimum payout value is $801, and with only 26 teams returning for Day 3, each team is guaranteed a payout of $3,213. Sako is leading the pack with 2,340,000 chips, followed by Williams (2,085,000) and Java have (2,065,000). Two Chinese teams, Junqiang Lyu – Zhu Xingbiao (485,000) and Qi Xuming- Qu Feng(300,000), have made it to the next round.

Event #53: $1,500 Millionaire Maker

Day 1 of the $1,500 Millionaire Maker saw 4,575 players take their seats, with only 1,118 players advancing to Day 2. Nicola Basile leads the chip count with an incredible 480,000 chips. Chinese player Wu Yake is in fifth place with 325,000 chips, while Danny Tang advanced to Day 2 with 77,000 chips.

Other notable players with big chip stacks include Alex Greenblatt (405,400), Osman Ilhamur from Turkey (302,000), and Renan Bruschi (261,000). Several poker pros also played on Day 1, including Jeff Platt (206,500), Jason Wheeler (184,500), Ryan Leng (174,000), Kristen Foxen (127,500), and Jessica Teusl (90,000).

Event #54: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship

On the first day of the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship, 91 players survived out of a field of 165, with many big names leading the way, including Scott Bohlman (311,500), Scott Seiver (297,000), David “Bakes” Baker (268,000), and Poker Hall of Famer Mori Eskandani (238,500).

However, they will all be chasing chip leader Steven Loube when Day 2 begins, as the 2012 bracelet winner bagged 353,000 chips to end the day on top. Yufei Zhong (63,500), Li Yinqi (41,000), and James Chen (24,500) also advanced to Day 2.
