Rodney Pinkham Bags the Chip Lead With 12 Remaining

The Day 2 session of the Main Event here at Turning Stone Resort and Casino has come to a close after completing the scheduled 10 levels of play.

At the start of the day, 124 players showed up with chips in an attempt to play down to a bag for Day 3 but of those 124, 112 were sent to the rail short of their goal.

The final 12 players certainly contain some notables with two women still remaining. Kathrine Brandt (pictured first below) has 2,620,000 coming into the Day 3 finale while Cindy Spier (pictured second below), who finished 3rd in this very tournament last year for $126,097, bagged up 1,985,000 for the penultimate session.

Patrick White is also deep in the event for the second year in a row after finishing in 9th last year for $26,089. None of the aforementioned players bagged a top three stack, though.

Those honors go to Rodney Pinkham Jr who bagged the chip lead with 8,645,000. Srikanth Gundela bags the second-biggest stack with 7,485,000 while Brian Ballentine rounds out the top three with 6,385,000. Lurking just outside the top three is another huge name and easily one of the most dangerous players remaining as Soukha Kachittavong (pictured below) will bring 5,845,000 into Day 3.

Play begins at noon and the players will show up with one goal in mind; to be the last player standing when all the dust settles. Whoever that ends up being will not only go home with the $298,546 lion’s share of the prize pool, but will also be awarded the custom WSOP Circuit Main Event ring and a seat to the 2024 WSOP Tournament of Champions. All remaining players are guaranteed a payout of $23,174.

A breakdown of the prize pool can be found here.

Players will return at noon to 60-minute levels beginning with Level 28 (60,000/120,000/120,000) and play will continue until a winner is crowned
