Bruce Volpe Brings the Chip Lead into Day 3

Today marks the first day where all remaining players from each of the three starting flights join together for the first time to play through the Day 2 session.

The WSOP Circuit stop at Turning Stone Resort and Casino is nearing it’s end which means a champion in the Main Event will soon be crowned, but before we get to that, there is the small matter of finding a bag for Day 3.

Coming into the day with the chip lead is Bruce Volpe. He bagged 1,205,000 in the Day 1A session and no one from either of the other two starting sessions could topple his lead. By happenstance, the second largest chip stack of Srikanth Pungela, coming in at 1,091,000, was put together in the second starting flight while the players rounding out the top three counts is Colin Moll, who bagged the top stack of 944,000 in the third and final Day 1 flight last night.

Other notable players bringing chips into Day 2 include some big names like Soukha Kachittavong (432,000), bracelet winner Christian Roberts (271,000), Veerab Zakarian (520,000), Viet Vo (786,000) and the 2022 champion of this very event, Joseph Rice who will come into the day with 332,000 which he will use in an attempt to go for a second Turning Stone Main Event title.

The total field size after all three flights came to 1,188 total entries, of which just 124 players survived to join play on Day 2. the guarantee for the event was absolutely crushed, surpassing it by $800,000 with a total prize pool coming to a staggering $1,799,820.

When play resumes, all remaining players will have a payday worth $3,381 locked up but with $298,546 up top along with the Main Event ring and a seat to the 2024 WSOP Tournament of Champions, there’s no way that anyone remaining be satisfied with heading to the cage with the minimum cash for the day in hand.
