Albert Tapia Wins Event 9 for $40,950

Albert Tapia bested a field of 696 players to take home his first WSOP Circuit Ring and $40,950.

After a fairly short heads-up battle with Marco Garcia, an all-in on the last hand resulted in Tapia scoring two pair and all of the tournament chips.

“I was chip leader from nine to the last three and then dropped to third, but came back and battled back,” Tapia told POKER .org after the win.

After winning, Victor Paredes who had just been knocked out of another tournament came over and said, “you called your shot.”

“This morning I posted on Instagram,” Tapia explained. “I said I’m bringing home the win today.”

When asked if he planned to play the Main Event Tapia quickly said no. “I came up, just decided to play this one event. One bullet.”

Full results will be posted sometime on Friday.
