A fresh-faced Varas folds, breaks a milly

Zak VanKeuren opened the action to 45,000 on the button, Andrew Moreno called in the small blind and Eddie Varas popped it to 160,000 from the big blind. VanKeuren took some time, played right back and made it 350,000 to go.

Moreno couldn’t fold fast enough and Varas gave some thought before kicking his cards back to the dealer. Varas looks markedly different than he did when bagged up chips on Day 1B. He shaved off his sizable beard overnight and some of his tablemates didn’t recognize him.

“I didn’t do it to be unrecognizable, I just got home last night and it was too much. I just shaved it,” Varas said.

Has it worked to change his luck?

“Things are going alright so far,” he said. He has 1.1 million chips.
